In September LP Brown worked with PlayWorks, a non-profit organization that has worked with schools across the country to help kids have safe, engaging, and empowering recess experiences. PlayWorks's Coach Jackie trained all of the staff at LP Brown in games and strategies that help students participate in recess activities that are fun, friendly, and fair. Educators across the country agree that PlayWorks increases student cooperation with others, increases students' ability to focus in class, increases student use of conflict resolution strategies, and increases student feelings of inclusion. PlayWorks focuses on strong social and emotional skills in addition to providing leadership opportunities for our 4th and 5th grade students. We have 27 Junior Coaches who help Recess Coach, Mr. McCollum, lead games and activities during our lunch recesses. We are all really excited about the positive results we'll see in the future. But, for now, we're just super jazzed to hear kids leaving the playground telling friends, "Best recess ever!!"

Hi there! My name is Willow Maia Fulling. Some of you met me last year. I am an 18-month old Labradoodle (Labrador and poodle). My mom is a School Nurse (RN) and picked me because she was looking for the perfect Therapy Dog. I am mellow, kind, loving, gentle and completely non-shedding and hypoallergenic! My mom says that is the most important part because she works with people who have allergies and Asthma.
I have also been receiving specialized training since I was 10 weeks old. I went to 8 weeks of puppy obedience class then straight to class with a private trainer. I have been working with my trainer 5 days a week since then. I was one of the youngest pups to ever take the AKC Good Citizen test at Petco and pass the first time! I received my Therapy Dog certification through Therapy Dogs International, TDI.
I go visiting in hospitals, nursing homes, homeless shelters, the police station and schools. I love school the best! I am so excited to come back to LP Brown on occasion. I love to be read to, I like helping with math, I am part of social studies programs and Geography too! I do not get to go on the playground or in the cafeteria those areas are for kids and staff only.
I also understand that not everyone likes dogs and I don’t get my feelings hurt. I just stay in my kennel if you don’t want to see me.
My “office” will be in the health room with my mom. I will have a kennel in her office on the days I am visiting.
I can’t wait to see everyone again and meet those of you I haven’t met yet.
