The LP Brown community is excited to transform our corner lot into a vibrant and meaningful outdoor learning space. This project has been made possible through the generous support of the Angela J. Bowen Conservancy Foundation, West Olympia Rotary, Washington Native Plant Society, Community Foundation of South Puget Sound, Olympia Education Foundation, and the LP Brown PTO.
This space will become a beautiful, interactive native plant garden that serves both as a welcoming gathering place and a hands-on learning environment for our students. Through this project, students will explore concepts such as watersheds, ecosystems, and the food and medicinal properties of native plants. The curriculum guiding this work has been thoughtfully developed in partnership with GRuB and the Squaxin Tribe, ensuring an authentic and locally grounded learning experience.
At LP Brown, we believe outdoor learning is essential to a well-rounded education and to developing a deep connection to place. We are committed to fostering respect for the land and are proud to provide opportunities for students to learn from and care for the environment around them. We are excited to see this space grow and to share this learning with future generations.
