Parents and guardians who will have children in kindergarten in the 2019-20 school year are invited to learn about transitioning to kindergarten by attending this year's "Olympia School District Countdown to Kindergarten" event.

The event is from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 2nd at Capital High School, 2707 Conger Ave. N.W., Olympia. The event begins at 10 a.m. with a welcome and presentation by Olympia School District Superintendent Patrick Murphy.

An information fair follows in the school Commons where parents/guardians can meet staff from LP Brown and other elementary schools around the district. The event is also a chance to learn about registering for kindergarten, using Skyward Family Access (Student Information System), riding the bus, alternative kindergarten options, before- and after-school child care, and community partner services.

Kindergarten registration opens Monday, March 4th. If you have younger children, or have friends or neighbors that have children that will be starting kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year, please share this information with them. Registration packets will be available in the LP Brown office.

CISPUS is almost here! If you have questions, concerns, or just want to learn more about the CISPUS experience, the 5th grade teachers will be having a CISPUS parent night on Thursday, March 21, from 6 pm - 7 pm at LPBES, Room 4 (Mr. Hazel's room). Hope to see you there!

All over the counter and prescribed medications your student will need while at CISPUS require a Medication Authorization Form from your medical provider. Ibuprofen, Benadryl, Melatonin and daily allergy medication all apply. A provider order is no longer required for sunscreen. If your student already has medication orders at school you do NOT need a new order for CISPUS. Please contact the nurse to have the forms sent home. 360-596-6808 or
